Accelerated Math, Science at Core of New Pathways

Persistence is the key to success at Reynoldsburg eSTEM Early College Academy, according to Principal Scott Bennett.

"The work does get tough, but those that continue to work hard at it find themselves being successful," he said.

Bennett recently spoke to eighth-graders at an Academy Night where he and principals from Reynoldsburg's other high school academies -- BELL, HS(2) and Encore -- presented information about the career pathways available at each school.

"The eSTEM Academy is a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) demonstration school for the state of Ohio," he said. "We rely heavily on problem-based and inquiry learning. We have an accelerated math and science curriculum that runs through all of our pathways and we have pathways-specific electives that are heavily focused on engineering and technology."

He said the academy began rolling out new pathways this year and will continue to do so over the next three years.
