Middle-schooler's Report Calls for More Sidewalks


Over the last few months, 12-year-old Trinity Tobe studied the infrastructure around her Slate Ridge neighborhood and came to the conclusion that more sidewalks are needed.

She presented her findings to Reynoldsburg City Council on Monday, April 13, along with suggestions for a grassroots campaign for funding the work.

Like most of her sixth-grade classmates at Baldwin Road Junior High School, Trinity and her friends are eager for summer to begin. Each year, her mother, Renee, increases the boundaries of the area where she is allowed to peddle on her bicycle.

Part of the annual discussions about where she can ride includes a talk about safety, and Trinity realized the shortage of available sidewalks posed a problem in this regard. She took into consideration the most common routes and created a map to highlight where she believes sidewalks should be constructed.
