Tara Rahm earns teacher champion award from AEP

Teaching students about energy efficiency earned Hannah Ashton Middle School teacher Tara Rahm honors earlier this month from American Electric Power.

Rahm received an energy efficiency award from AEP Ohio at the Ohio Energy Project Youth Energy Summit May 7 at Ohio State University's Fawcett Center, where she was honored as a teacher champion.

Rahm teaches eighth-grade science at Hannah Ashton.

"When I learned of the award, I felt very proud of all the students in Reynoldsburg who have participated in my Green Teens Club and energy-efficient lessons over the last six years," she said. "These students go above and beyond with energy efficiency at home, recycling at school and teaching younger kids about important energy concepts."

Principal Denise Lutz said the school is "lucky to have Tara at Hannah Ashton."

"Tara's energy and passion for advancing students' minds in the areas of science and inquiry is exemplary," she said. "She works diligently to bring real-world problem-solving to the classroom and she creates a compassionate pool of students who are committed to environmental issues."
